- First off, not all A3000 owners are having SCSI problems or at least they
- are not having problems that are not of their own making. My problem
- occured when I tried to run two harddrives and several interface cards
- off the A3000 wimpy power supply. I solved this by getting a four bay
- external chassis for all my SCSI devices other than the primary harddrive.
- The only other concern, not even severe enough to call a problem, was when
- I installed AMIX and kept hanging up in the install from tape. This was
- solved by replacing the -03 WD SCSI Controller with a -07 WD SCSI Controller.

- If I understand your message, your SCSI network looks like:
-
- INTERNAL | EXTERNAL
- |
- [Fujitsu540]------[Controller]------------------------[Syquest]
- [ id ? ] [ id 7 ] | [ id ? ]
- [terminator] | [terminator]
- [installed] | [installed]
-
- What are the id's of the Fujitsi and Syquest?
-
- My general suggestions to you,
-
- First check your terminations and make sure you are using a good quality,
- shielded external SCSI cable.
-
- Check the grounding of the system and the outlet you are running from.
-
- Try disconnecting the Syquest drive completely and see if the Fujitsu drive
- persists in giving you problems.
-
- There are some tools like SCSI Probe and BattMem which may provide some
- clues. If not, the docs files are at least good reading. Try searching
- Aminet for these tools.
-
- Use HDToolBox to check and recheck your settings.
-
- Try using a lower value for MAXTRANSFER. Maxtor drives need a lower setting
- to run. I am not sure whether Fujitsu drives need this also.
-
- If all else fails, try replacing the WD SCSI controller. It worked for me. ;-)
-
- Good luck,
-
